The purpose of meeting #1 is to help patients name what is important to them and assess their readiness to get a transplant. Help patients think about why people get transplants and why donors donate. How is dialysis working for them and who helps them make important health decisions?

Meeting #2: Kidney Recipients’ Experiences

The purpose of this meeting #2 is to help patients learn about what it’s like to go through transplant evaluation, surgery, and recovery. The risks and benefits of transplant are presented.

Meeting #3: Living Donors’ Experiences

The purpose of meeting #3 is to help patients learn about what it’s like to involve a living donor. Risks and benefits of living donor are reviewed including the living donor evaluation, surgery, and recovery. 

Meeting #4: Deciding What to Do About Your Kidney Disease

The purpose of meeting #4 is to help patients imagine what their life would be like with a transplant versus starting or staying on dialysis. Help patients think through next steps and supporting them in taking that step.
